Rotz & Stonesifer, P.C.
A partner for you, your family, your business

Handbook Development

Rotz and Stonesifer can assist you with development or update of your organization's employee handbook.

The process for updating your handbook includes completing an on-site questionnaire covering all key areas and policies.  One of our consultants would visit your worksite for 1-2 days to gather all needed information and discuss key policies and procedures.   One of the advantages of using us is that we will assist you with all language development and make specific recommendations for key procedure language.

Your handbook may be the most critical document an organization can have.  A well written handbook will clearly outline your organization's policies and procedures.  In today's world with Card Check or the Employee Free Choice Act looming, an effectively written handbook can assist employers with keeping unions out.  A union organizer will most certainly take the path of least resistance and try to unionize an employer who doesn't have clearly written and communicated policies and procedures.

The following are the key aspects of handbooks that one of our consultants can assist you with:

  • Employment At-Will
  • Remaining Union Free Language
  • Harassment and Sexual Harassment Complaint Procedure
  • Drug Testing Procedures
  • No-Solicitation No-distribution procedures
  • Fair Treatment System (Grievance-type system)
  • All paid time off outlined clearly
  • Promotion procedures
  • Family Medical Leave Procedures and other leaves of absence  procedures
  • Performance Management System outlined
  • Work Rules and progressive discipline
  • Absenteeism policy
  • Use of computers/cell phones/texting/etc.
  • Key safety procedures and policy language
  • All legal compliance language
  • Benefits summaries written in a generic way in which won't require annual updates
  • Summary of non-insurance employee benefits programs

Anything else you think is important or unique to your organization
